English or Metric Units: You may choose English or Metric input units by use of the input unit selection button prior to entering variables. For example, if you wish to enter variables in English units and English units (ft & in) appear next to the input variable entry slots, simply enter the proper numbers and continue. However, if you wish to enter the variables in English units and Metric units (m & cm) appear next to the input variable entry slots, left click the mouse on the "English Units" button.
LORESCO product: Select one of the LORESCO products listed on the drop-down menu.
Volume to fill: Select one of the two shapes from the drop-down menu (Cylindrical hole or Rectangular trench). This refers to the cross-sectional shape of the LORESCO backfill column.
Length of fill, (m or ft): Enter the length of the LORESCO backfill column. This is the height of the LORESCO backfill in a hole or the length of the trench to be filled with LORESCO backfill in meters or feet.
Diameter or Width (cm or in): If the volume to fill is cylindrical, enter the diameter of the hole in centimeters or inches. This is the diameter of the LORESCO carbon backfill column. If the volume to fill is rectangular, enter the width of the trench to be filled in centimeters or inches. This is the width of the LORESCO carbon backfill column.
Number of holes/trenches: This is the total number of individual holes with a fill length and diameter, as given above, or the total number of individual trenches with a fill length, width, and thickness, as given.
Thickness of fill (RECT only), (cm or inches): If the volume to fill is rectangular, enter the thickness of the fill in centimeters or inches. This is the thickness of the LORESCO carbon backfill to be installed.
If the electrode shape is cylindrical, no thickness should be entered. If a thickness is entered, it is ignored by the calculations.
Result: The output generated by the calculator will be the estimated weight required of the specific LORESCO carbon backfill selected to fill the volume described by the input data. The estimated weight required is displayed in units of both kilograms (Kgs) and pounds (Lbs).
The total fill volume is calculated based on the fill shape and input dimensions. The average product bulk density is multiplied by the calculated volume to determine the estimated product weight.
